And PP's generalization is spot on in my family!  My American Boomer mom would not commit to childcare for a full day every single week while my foreign born MIL would love it.  There is nothing wrong or "hating Americans" about it - it is generally true.  Our American born mothers were the first "liberated women" - a generation of professionals mothers working outside the home.  [/quote]

I agree that it’s wrong to group all American MILs in the same category. My MIL is American and has reliably cared for my child’s since she was 3 months old.l, and she is now 2. Now all Americans are lazy and unreliable. Some things can be said about foreign people, but it’s ignorant and unneeded. I’m educated enough to know that you can’t group everyone together. [/quote]
