Sorry, OP, you are not going to get that from me. I think you are awful.

Do you think OP should also be paying her? I'm just wondering what you think the implied contract between employer and employee consists of. At what point, when someone can no longer do the job she was hired for, can she be let go? Never, if the illness is not her fault and being let go will lead to financial hardship?

Do you seriously think OP is paying her for her sick days? She is a part-time employee.

And is two weeks with a doctor's note really unreasonable for a sick leave?

Makes little difference. OP is talking about an after-school position which are the easiest to find for a nanny. I hope the nanny does leave or get fired. OP sounds vile.

Then what other kids were you referring to?

What don't you understand PP?

The nanny has 2 jobs. Persumably, she got sick from the kids in that first job which is why she can't go to any job at the moment until she is
better.

I understand that my original premise was true. OP (or you is mad because the nanny is sick from moonlighting.

The last virus I got, I was completely bedridden for 3 weeks. It was just a nasty virus and no matter how many times I went to the doctor, the only thing to do was wait it out.

I once had a terrible cold that went to pneumonia & was truly bedridden for 3-4 weeks.

The Dr. initially diagnosed me w/bronchitis and couldn’t figure out why the medicine she prescribed me wasn’t making me better.
I went to another Dr. who gave me a chest x-ray + diagnosed my pneumonia.

My employer hired a temp Nanny for her family until I was strong and healthy again.

I would have felt just awful if she had fired me for getting so ill.

Find a temp babysitter. Your nanny will understand your reason completely.

I know what it's equivalent to.

In the UK, OP would not have the option to fire this nanny. Nanny would have one full month's worth of PTO and a guarantee of employment. I imagine that in Canada or Australia, the rules could also be different.
