Wow PP racist much? |
Congratulations, OP. I hope it works out for you. |
People aren't illegal. One may be an illegal alien/immigrant (adjective), but "illegal" is not a noun. You, however, seem to be both racist and uneducated. |
Cue racist remarks in 3-2-1... |
Yes, a housekeeper. they are used to working 10-15 hours a week or 2-4 days a week at $20/hour to do everything you listed. Though she would need to be organized in order to do it all WITH a toddler around. But it's doable. |
Our whole neighborhood has $100/day cash nannies for aftercare. They come to the house at 2pm, start some chores/laundry/errands/meal prep, pick the kids up from school at 3 or 4pm, facilitate homework and snack time, get dinner going/finish laundry/room cleaning, and they you get home at 6 or 7pm. They even baby sit one night a week for date night. $500 a week, 25 hours, including one date night. |
| I don't think the assumption is racist at all. I knew of an undocumented nanny from east Africa who made $900 a month. She cooked clean 11hrs a day and did over nights |
Oh you know a black person? Good for you. The assumption is completely racist because it assumes that anyone who speaks a mother tongue that is not English must be illegal. It is a ridiculous and racist assumption. |
Nope, we are assuming that anyone who would take a very-part-time job with low pay and a lot of duties is limited in their options either by not being legal to work in the US or because they are inexperienced or undesirable in some other profound way. But good luck, OP. Maybe you just got someone young and dumb and she will be fine until she realizes how much more she could be making. |
Well pp, I did the research. I looked up the local and national averages, cross compared rates, checked out what other experienced parents paid, and, as a newbie to the nanny forum and very quickly concluded you are full of it! |
Congratulations! I too will be looking for a late afternoon nanny/housekeeper soon. Many of my friends have one. It is definitely achievable for under $25/hr |
|
Many local college students are able/willing to do this for $20/hr.
The hours work and it is double what they could get at the local retail store or food place |
| What about looking for a college student or high school student who could work maybe 2-3 afternoons out of the week? It might be an option to help a little without having to find a FT nanny for it. This is one of the hardest times to find someone for. |
