OP apparently hired some random woman from off the street. Permission to run a background check might be the least ridiculous bit of illegalness about this arrangement. She also hasn't returned to the thread. |
OP here. We are paying legally and paying her taxes at $20 per hour gross, plus paid vacations. My mistake was not to run through a complete background check with her for sure. We checked all of her references, double checked her reference names online to make sure these were real people, and the references for her were stellar, and the people giving references were intelligent professionals per linked in research and per our conversations. this was clearly not a woman off the street. that having been said, I need to get her SS# from our accountant. Thanks everyone! |
This is a stupid thing to say. When I first hired a nanny, I paid $15 an hour for someone with minimal experience and no college education, who is a citizen. I got a great quality nanny who has now been with us over five years. |
[b] You are stupid. See two can play this game!! You are the minority but clearly too 'stupid' to know that. |
She didn't call *you* stupid. Now go out and play the adults are talking here |
I have done my research on parents and parents have run background and driving record checks on me before I have started every position. Why didn't you do this? If the number was fake, it would have popped when the I9 was filed, when the W4 was filed. |
There are obviously safety and honesty concerns at this point.
Let her go. |
She seems very irresponsible. |
You don't "file" those forms. Employers are just supposed to keep them available for information (W4) and in case of an audit. You have to actually run a ss# check to see if it's valid. |
