A nanny that likes to clean isn't a big deal but if it bothers you just say something. A ton of people have anxiety and OCD and it doesn't affect how well they do the job. OCD in general is pretty harmless- it's not like she's doing anything that will put herself or the kids in danger. It's a neurological disorder and not something that you should use against her.
To be honest firing someone on a perceived disability because you suspect they are OCD is discrimination and unprofessional. If she can't stop cleaning that's one thing but trying to get rid of her because of your suspicions is immature and wrong. If this is her livelihood you need to discuss issues with her personally and communicate. |
| Your nanny just sounds like she has her stuff together which is an important asset to her job. |

I call myself "OCD" in a joking manner and when I say it I always refer to generally liking the house clean more than the average person- you know, not having messes left around hours after making them, keeping things organized and kept up as you go, hating dishes being left in the sink for hours instead of being put in the dishwasher right away, etc.
I think I'm anal (and my husband and kids agree haha), but I've had nannies that I've let slack on that and didnt pick up after themselves because I liked them and I can tell you from experience that if you had a nanny like that it gets old real quick. Soon enough you'll be thinking back on your nanny that did like to clean and keep a tight ship so to speak. I ( and my husband) personally hated coming home after a long day at work to find the kitchen a mess, bottles and dishes in the sink, arts and craft projects that were left over or half finished or the kids rooms messy with toys everywhere etc. It was tiring and exhausting to deal with it and when I did find a nanny that was on top of things and had it together with that I really found it to be refreshing and wonderful. A lot of it she did herself and some the kids helped with but with their ages it was mostly her. She was "OCD" about keeping things clean and it was great for us compared to the other nanny who seemed not as hardworking or detail oriented. |
