And yes...It has been extremely warm in this neck of the woods for the past two to three days.

Personally, I don't see how your bosses can expect you to walk in this sweltering hot and humid weather. A good employer would want their nanny to be comfortable on the job so either they let you drive somewhere with their child or encourage you to stay in until the heat lets up.

I cannot imagine any boss asking you to walk a mile to a park...Even if that park is shielded from the sun.

OP here. My boss never asked me to walk anywhere. I just hate staying home and love being outside. I set up all of my charges activities.

I hate this weather! We have been inside for the last two afternoons and will be again today.

Op how long have you worked for the family? I would want a serious discussion on driving, esp with all the rain we are forecasted to get at the end of the year.

OP here and yes - I agree. I have told them that things have to change with the upcoming winter. I can't be stuck in the apartment with him all day - it isn't good for either of us but especially not for him. I actually love walking but it this week made it clear that I need the option to drive.

We have a mile walk to the park (he in a stroller) and then the baby park is under an awning. Humidity is around 50-60%.

Thanks.

OP you stated to a responder that your bosses did not ask you to walk anywhere, then why did you write that it is a mile walk to the park?

Not trying to throw shade (no pun intended here), but just wanted to clarify this so I can give you a better answer.

Because that is the amount of time/distance she and her charge would be out under a hot sun. She said the park itself was under an awning.

What does her boss have to do with how long/far she would be pushing her charge in the hot sun in his stroller?

Southern California is not the sahara and I don't see why you need to drive the kids to park? Are there any coffee shops or other stops you can rest a bit on the way? Did they declare weather emergency for everyone? Unless you are elderly or have a medical condition walking a mile pushing a stroller is not a big deal in summer, rain or winter with proper gear. Statistically cars are the most dangerous for kids getting killed so try to understand your NF position to avoid driving when possible.

Are you insane?! 102 is way too hot for a toddler to be in a stroller for an hour!!! OP never even mentioned the toll on herself, Asshole. She was asking about her charge.

Over a mile each way pushing a stroller? Yeah, that would take me an hour.

You have severe reading comprehension issues, PP OP clearly said that she loves to walk but will have to talk to her employers about driving since LA is predicted to get so much rain.

And over 95 heat index is too hot for a toddler in a stroller. And it does take an hour to walk a mile each way pushing a stroller plus whatever time OP is going to be at the park.

Seriously, PP, you are an asshole.
