Please tell your babysitter if your child is sick

She said she left to protect her pregnant mb and full time charge. I can't believe you guys are giving her a hard time. As you can see, the mothers reading this are grateful! And who leaves a young child with a babysitter when the little one has the flu?

You are right. Some parents disgust me with laziness.

Only selfish and careless parents would leave their sick child home while they go out, esp. if she has the flu of all things.

And on top of that, they are inconsiderate for not telling the babysitter in advance that their child was sick, then not paying her for showing up and reserving that time spot for them.

OP, you best write them off and avoid their calls from now on.

And to the PP, just because you get a flu shot, does not 100% mean you are immune to not getting the flu.

This season there are many new strains so OP is vulnerable regardless.

As a MB who just lost 2 weeks of my life to the flu despite getting a flu shot this year as always, I can vouch that the shot does NOT always protect you. Intelligent and conscientious people like OP who know not to expose themselves and those around them unnecessarily are refreshing to hear about.

Did you ever think maybe the flu shot is the thing that caused you to get sick? Just like the vaccines?

PP here - Since there was a 5 month gap between when I got the shot and when I came down with the flu that was going around my child's school last month, I'm going to guess that it was because of exposure at the school from people who weren't as conscientious as OP and tried to go about their business as usual while sick rather than taking simple yet reasonable precautions to limit the spread of illness. That and you know, because the shot does not actually cause the flu and does not have live virus in it...

You sound like you are one of the drug manufacturers, but you are just a nanny. Truth is you have no idea what is in that syringe when they inject you, you just go along with society. The facts remain you got a shot that "prevents" the flu and then got the flu thereafter. Seems like someone of average intelligence would see the connection.
