As a nanny, my friends have offered to pay me to watch their kids. When you are asking someone to do their job that they usually get paid for, it's a little different, even when they are friends. They can at least offer.

At the very least she could have said she was broke and needed a favor and then provided some good snacks or something. But still, even if she was broke, she should have offered to trade services.
