Yes, everyone who is paid for their job is greedy. Everyone. Even Peace Corp workers who get a stipend and health insurance. The priest at my church is paid. The world is made up of greedy, greedy people.

Yes very greedy. I choose to reject societies standards and work for free. I also help to clean their home because I am not selfish.

Come on over to my house - I'm a dentist and I love teeth so much that I always drill, fill and pull for free!

Anonymous wrote:I am a 24 hr live in nanny in the DC area. I take care of 3 toddlers 96 hrs each week. I make 700 per week. I am able to live in on the days I don't work in a nice basement apartment. I am also provided a car and health insurance. Yes technically I make min wage but I am also paid to sleep.

Do the parents ever parent?

Yes the other 3 days each week they do. I'm the only nanny they have.

So for four days they don't see their children? I don't get this setup.

You are making less than minimum wage. I hope they are paying you OT, but I doubt it.

They travel for work 4 days per week. Yes I make min wage roughly 7.29 per hr so a few cents over. No I don't get over time because in Virginia live in nannies are not required to be paid it.

What the heck? I made $500/day as a 24 hour live in nanny. You are being way underpaid.

Four kids, three of whom have their own nanny. I am the nanny/newborn care specialist for the infant. I have been with this family for 3 years. When I started, (with the two older kids) I was paid 28 an over, with applicable overtime-time and a half over 8 hours and double time over 12. Now, I am paid 33 an hour with the same overtime rates. I am also provided with health insurance and two weeks of paid vacation a year. This is a high profile family.
