Your updates are useless. Either update them saying you won't make it there today or update them saying you'll be there at blah time. They don't want a play by play every half hour. They are busy working and taking care of their kids. |
| Well, at least they've realized how completely incompetent OP is now before she pulls something stupid while watching the kids |
| Pick up the phone and all them. Apologize 100000 times over and that's it. Polish up your resume and start looking for jobs during your snow day. |
| You need to do whatever you need to do to get to work, and then GO HOME not to your mom's house which is further away! Sheesh, I don't get why you went there, knowing a storm was coming, and knowing it would be harder to get to work. People who are serious about their jobs make more of an effort to be closer to work, not further. |
| Admit it. You got it in your head that everyone was going to get snowed in today and you reached a point where you counted on it and were surprised this morning to learn that your employers actually want you to show up to work, as agreed, scheduled and planned. Shocker. You're not in elementary school, honey, hoping that school will be closed due to snow. You planned poorly and were surprised when you learned that the expectation was that you'd still show up as scheduled. Sigh. Welcome to the adult world. And the walking through the snow crap is just that, crap. You thought saying that would get them to tell you to just stay home. You need to put your big girl pants on and tell them that you either can't make it or if you can get there, what time they can expect you. |

I am very serious about my work and I will not defend myself on this forum. I went to moms for a very good reason as she is in very ill health. The storm wasnt expected to be this bad. I realize it shows me as irresponsible but I have never been before in any past job. This is defiantly a bout of very bad luck.
I have called MB & DB but they never pick up. They will only text me. I feel pretty horrible and I have been trying since 6:30am to get there. I have yet to succeed. |
| Then borrow your mother's car if she's so ill. And you've admitted already to missing several days work since starting this job. So you might have it in your mind that you're "serious about your work" but you're not. |
| And did you say that you're in Chicago? I'm in DC and the snow storm expected in the Chicago area WAS reported in advance. |
| This is not about "bad luck." It's about your poor planning, inability to prioritize and terrible communication skills |
Yes but we got much more than was expected. Weather conditions are worse than expected. |
She doesn't have a car. Everyone in Chicago uses public transit. |
| OP, why do you have time to respond to this thread? Aren't you "walking to work" or whatever? Maybe get your eyes on the prize? |
| you have so many excuses, OP. It's hilarious. |
|
Can you get to an el station? Those are running fine as is the bus service in many areas of the city from what I've heard from numerous people. I know many of the side streets in the city are still buried in snow, but the main roads are relatively ok. I'm in the suburbs and most of our roads were ok this morning. Slick, but doable. Good luck OP.
Stop to grab something for lunch and to regroup. Hopefully you'll make it to public transportation soon that can get you to work. Out of curiosity, what area of the city are you coming from that has public transportation shut down? |

I'm in chicago, I made it to work. Yes, we got
a lot of snow, but it comes with living in chicago. |
