Anyone have to work on Friday? RSS feed

I work Friday, despite clarifying with my MB multiple times that she wouldn't need me that day. I will be starting this new year off with a job search.

What a bunch of lazy asses ...

I am a nanny and unless I take the day off, I work and don't complain like some of you do. You should have taken a calendar in September and ask for the day off in order to get a 3 day weekend. You can only blame yourself.
Parents need some time to themselves, you get paid and shouldn't complain.

You're better than everyone on the thread. Is that what you needed to hear? Go away now, thanks.

She may claim to be a nanny, but I doubt it.

So your boss isn't allowed to want time to herself and relax? She works and then comes home to care for her children and run the household. You get to go home and relax after work. As long as you're getting paid and didn't ask for the day off you have no room to cry about it. I would have sympathy for you had you asked off in advance and she said no but then is home all day

She is paying me whether she has me come in or not and parents deserve some "me time" and friend time too. I had new years eve day off as well as new years day and I'm just thankful to have those days off. It also helps that I only have to go in half day Friday.

+1. As long as you are being paid, you should not be complaining. You are lucky to have a job that provides you with paid holidays and vacation. Many do not.

Is your name Jeff? No? Then you don't get to tell anyone to go away.

So...you had today off and presumably got paid (maybe not, but that's not the topic of this thread.) You got to relax and do whatever you wanted to do today. MB wants to have that herself tomorrow. What's the problem? You get to play and relax and have "me time" but no one else can? Even if they're paying you? Ridiculous.

That said I'll be working my last day w/ current family, start a new family Monday. I worked for them (new family) yesterday too. I could have had tomorrow off, unpaid, but chose to work.

Our nanny has been off since Dec 19th. She's working tomorrow and my spouse and I both have the day off. We plan to use it to have time to ourselves. We may get lunch together, or run errands (like shoe shopping, which is desperately needed), or we may use some of the time to spend one on one time with one of our kids.

There is no reason our nanny shouldn't work tomorrow even if both parents are home. It's daytime babysitter hours for getting stuff done. Yay for all of us.

I bet she'll even be happy to see you all. Your situation is completely different then OP's. Enjoy your day off.

Our nanny has had four paid weekdays off in the last two weeks. She is happy to come in Friday and spend the day with our daughter. They are very close. Not everyone dislikes their job.

Wow. I cannot believe she is making you come in when she is going to be there.

It would have been a great opportunity for her to be a parent...err...spend some quality time with her child.

Why shoukd you be off bc the parent is off?

Just don't pretend to miss your child so much.
