Well it really is on them, not on you.

You agreed to work until a certain time frame. And so did they.

And then on the same day which you were scheduled to babysit (which is considered last minute), they tried to change that time frame which is not acceptable.

You specifically told them you could not do it, so I don't see it should be a big deal.

The most they should be is disappointed, but their disappointment should by no means be aimed at you.

It's just one of those fluke things in life.

They will get over it. Sh#* happens to all of us.

I ended up telling them I could stay until 10:30 the latest, and they got home at 10:45. I was barely able to make my plans, but now in the future I know not to babysit on a night I have to be gone by a certain time. Thanks everyone for the feedback!

I hope you have also learned that in the future you need to stick to agreed upon times.

I hope you have learned to be unavailable for extra babysitting for these people in the future.
