what kind of things is the nanny lying about? Is it possible that it's not truly lying, but just some misunderstanding or mis-comunication?

No notice, no severance. Honesty is not negotiable in this relationship. Chances are if she is lying to you about anything she may be doing more that you are aware of. We had a solar situation - caught the nanny in a couple lies, did a PIP, installed cameras, and were appalled at things that we're going on when we weren't around.
