OP, you should read this before going forward.

Op here, I highly doubt it's due to meth, so only meth addicts have bad teeth?
We wanted to give her a separate about for dental work. Some posters suggested offering it to her we thought we should. I don't want to offend her and don't think I would bring it up until I know her better |
Wow. Someone needs a reality check. How does anyone live with you? OP knows that caring for your nanny means that the nanny will care so much more about her work. Win-win. Be happy for them. |
Wait. You are willing to pay up to $20,000 for dental work for someone you don't even know will be a great nanny? That doesn't sound particularly smart. |
| Op here, not going to offer it until at least after the 30 day trial, if not longer. We want to make sure she's the right nanny for us and also get to know her better before offering so we don't offend her |
| That's so kind. Seriously. |
| Op I would wait for 30-60 days and then if things are going great I would say dh and I want to help you with some dental work. I'm sure she will be thrilled. It's not like she doesn't know her teeth are bad. If she could afford it herself she would do it I'm sure. Yes it might be an awkward conversation but she should be thrilled and great full for such kind bosses. |
| You never know why people have 'poor oral hygiene'. People who had cancer treatments often have teeth that are all but destroyed. I know a girl who's in her 20s and has horrible/dark/stained teeth because she had leukemia & a bone marrow transplant, as a child. It will cost about 25-35K for her to get all new teeth. The treatments saved her life (she had ALL) but ruined her teeth. |
| Usually people who have rotten teeth like that have drug issues. Not to be judgmental, just be careful. |
