How in the world did you get 240 miles? |
| She said its 1 hr away. 60 miles there, 60 back. 60 there again to pick up 60 back to take home. 240 |
this not exactly the case. it depends on what time and the distance you are going somewhere that dictates how long it would take. for example i live 8 miles from my job in dc but depending on the time of day it can take 15 minutes or it can take 45 minutes. w/o knowing the exact distance you can't calculate the true cost. since nanny is getting paid already for her time your $240 is most likely wrong. i doubt this kid is going from dc to baltimore every day in distance. |

Even if it were 240 miles a day, that's a lot of gas and wear on a car. The IRS rate is fair for that wear. If the family doesn't like to spend that much, they shouldn't expect the nanny to do so much driving. They chose the school, they nanny didn't.
Sure, they could get a nanny car and take care of the gas and maintenance, but I doubt they'd be saving much off the IRS rate. I'm an MB. |
| I always thought the IRS rate was unrealistically low. That's why I require the family to have an extra car. They need to cover insurance to. It's all part of the job they hire me to do. |
| Does your boss require you to buy your own laptop to bring to the office every day to do your job? Somehow I doubt it. |
| Volunteering your services to her friends? Ummmmm NO, absolutely not okay. You have to stick up for yourself! |
| That happened to me also I was asked to drive the kids all over the place. When I took the job she said no driving, but that soon changed from th e park round the corner to long distances..I had a very high end vehicle my husband gave me as a wedding present, so I switched vehicles with my daughter. Let's say she soon had me driving her vehicle because she wanted her kids in a better vehicle..she a nd her husband would make jokes that I don't want their kids in my car..Simple people..we have car payments, car insurance, wear and tear..giving just $20 or $30 a week in gas is not fair..Nannies do you consider the liability if there is an accident. ,Who pays if your car gets totalled...what if kids are badly hurt or you hurt someone..It is a lot...The insurance was under my husband name should he b e liable..Book make employers buy a nanny care and shoulder all the responsibility for their children and stuff their gas money |
