I have 20 hours guaranteed, it took a year and the birth of new baby, plus thinking about it for three months, but they finally agreed. The week after Christmas Will be the first time I will be paid while they are on vacation. Good luck, cause this took me a year of negotiating to get!

OP here. My NF actually changed their mind and gave in! They apparently researched online and found out it's pretty typical to do this. My rate is pretty high (20/hour) but I only work 13 hours/week. I am so grateful for this

Right? The double standards for MBs vs. Nannies are INSANE.

Nanny can't be late, but MB can because nannies should be flexible.
Nanny can't renegotiate, but MB can because nannies should be flexible.
Nanny can quit for a better job because she made a commitment, but MB can fire nanny for whatever she damn well pleases, commitments, contracts, and children be damned.
Nanny has moral obligations to her NF, but MB doesn't because nanny is just an employee.
Nanny must be a yoga expert for all the flexibility her job demands, but she should never ever expect anything beyond her contract, and for some MBs, even asking might get you fired.

Im happy to hear things worked out for OP, but she didn't "negotiate like a pro". A pro negotiates before accepting a job/signing a contract. That should be the take away for nannies. Know what you need, and accept no less.

Also, she probably pays you a high rate because she doesnt guarantee the hours. That is her compromise. "I'm just confused why she can't agree to guaranteed hours." - maybe because she doesnt have money coming out of her ears to pay you when you havent worked? Just saying
