My boss installed a disgusting car seat in my car RSS feed

Anonymous
The parents were using the seat in their car up until the point where they purchased a new seat and shifted the old one to the nanny's car, so either they are somehow immune to the smell or the OP is exaggerating. Either way, dirty things should be cleaned, not replaced. Talk to the parents without being a drama queen.

Just clean it and stop being so precious and entitled.

Expecting something to be clean upon installation is being entitled now? Find a new term (or just look up the definition so you are aware of the correct usage), that one is getting tedious.

I'm always amazed by the nannies on this site. You complain about not getting paid a good wage, but you actually don't deserve one. I'm paid above market rates, and this is why: HELLO YOU CAN'T WASH A CAR SEAT COVER IN THE MACHINE!!! Most straps are flame retardant and the manual specifically tells you NOT TO WASH THE CAR SEAT. Do not take it apart, use only water to clean.

You can wash a car seat cover on gentle in the washer except a rare few. You cannot wash the straps but you can clean them. Only one of our seats is set up so you cannot wash the headrest as it does not come off but the covers come off as they are meant to be washed. If you are paid above market rate and do not know this, then you need to educate yourself.

They surely knew that it wasn't as nice as the brand new one.

My point exactly. They did agree to clean it but there were no apologies made.

Read the car seat manual... Do not wash or take apart.

All car seats are different. Regardless, OP's employers should be the ones cleaning the dirty seat, not her.

This is ridiculous. I'm an MB and it is NOT the nannies job to wash their car seat. If the child threw up in it while in the nannies car, then yes, she could clean it but under no circumstances should they have put that seat in her car to begin with. That's disgusting.

So what? Why is the nanny entitled to something better than what the parents were using up until the need for a second seat arose?
