When my mb's friends add a kid I charge the friend our established share rate which in my area is $8 for one kid, $10/11 for two. Some days I end up makimg $32 an hour so I never turn down a share. |
"Less attention" is exactly what some children need more than anything else. You do know that the helicopter syndrome is causing depression in children, don't you?? You sound very self-centered. |
That's how it should be, PP. Good for you earning what your work is worth. More nannies should be earning $32/hr. It's really not that big of a deal if you're a top nanny. |
Less attention is fine but it costs less than full attention. |
In the real world, people who know what they're doing earn more than those who don't. It's an advanced concept to some people. |
A few days a week will certainly change this nanny's job.
There are lots of things moms have done to make a share worth it for me in the past. 1) Great pay --- whatever this means in your situation, speak with your nanny and your friend and let them speak with each other about details. It's also a good idea to somehow work it out that you're able to pay a bit less, as you're bearing the burden of hosting. It is quite common for nannies who nannyshare and have great qualifications to gross $22 - $25 for any type of share because of the extra legwork involved. Some nannies might be fine with less. I haven't met them, after 12 years in the profession locally a few more outside of this area. Good Luck OP, this could work out really great for you and your family, as well as your friend's family! 2) Great environment --- this means that babyproofing/kidproofing was always done before I arrived, as well as some organizing and food prep. 3) Great communication --- with both families both while was with their children and at the start and end of the day to let me know where they were at in my time away from them. |
