I actually haven't spoken to my counselor specifically about disclosing it to them, although she encourages me no to "silence" or "secret" the facts of the disorder. There's power in telling your secrets sometimes and that's what she encourages me to do.

Most everyone here discourages you from telling but it's really up to YOU and if you feel like you have the type of relationship where you feel comfortable enough to disclose anything. My MB knows about my past struggles with an eating disorder. Anyone with an eating disorder knows that even if you've physically "recovered", it will mentally always be there in one way or another...whether you're acting on it or not, you will always worry about food or exercise or your body in some way. It's a part of who I was and who I am now and I am very close with my MB so I shared it with her. Nothing about my job or our relationship changed.
