Thats an office, not a nanny. That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. As a nanny, having my own cell phone for use on the job is pa rt of being a nanny. |
I think this is pretty unusual. I use my personal phone to answer pages from work 24/7. Most employers expect this and don't compensate for it. If MB calls her at home to ask a question about the schedule, is she then supposed to chip in for the home phone bill as well? Where does it end? I agree that if there is no additional expense to the caregiver, there should be no compensation. |
It happens that way for me. My company offered to provide me a phone (in which case I carry two cell phones) or contribute a set amount per month to use my own. They also provide me a company number that is forwarded to my cell phone so that I don't have to give my personal number to clients. In my current job I would not use my personal number for work without reimbursement. If I were a Nanny, I would not ask MB to pay for contribute to my phone if I already had a plan with unlimited minutes/ pictures. But if I were required to upgrade my plan because she required sending pictures/ texts daily, or pay extra for those tests, then yes, I might ask for some contribution. |
You are EXPECTED?? What a stupid job requirement!!!! |
Know what else is stupid? Going through the posts and dragging up several that are three months old! |
