Nanny fell asleep while watching my kids RSS feed

Okay.

1. Your kids a fucking old!
2. You were at home.

WHY DO YOU EVEN NEED HER THERE PERIOD?

I'm honestly not a troll. She does light housekeeping in addition to watching my children. I've never had a ruptured ovarian cyst so I'm not sure how painful they are/ how much recovery time is required. I didn't think they'd release her from the hospital from the first place if she was that exhausted.

They are extremely painful. Your nanny needs to rest. Ignore the rude comments.

If you go to the ED for abdominal pain and they can't find anything wrong with you, they will diagnose you with a ruptured ovarian cyst. (If it's ruptured you can't see it on ultrasound anymore.) The amount of pain will vary. What shouldn't vary though is that if your nanny was taking narcotic pain medication, she shouldn't have been working.

EXTREMELY painful.

So...what are you asking? If you should fire her? You just said yourself that you have never had any other incidents with her and she is going through something medically..cut her some slack!

It just boggles my mind why someone would even post this. What do you want us to say? Use your head! Do you really look to strangers on the internet to dictate your every move? Grow up!

You should have immediately sent her home WITH pay, had her take the next day off to recover, and used it as a teaching opportunity to teach your children compassion and the right way to treat people.

I'd also work on your communication issues & ask your nanny to let you know in the future if there is an emergency.

If this post is real it's incredibly sad you have to be told these things.

+1
Sad commentary on your lack of decent ethics, OP. Is this how to show your children to treat you in similar circumstances?

could someone please explain what the purpose of a troll is? I dont' get why someone would post something untrue?

Am I reading something different than everyone else?

OP was apparently upstairs and nanny in charge. She came down and nanny was asleep. Nanny said she had a medical problem.

Why the bitchiness? It seems like the nanny didn't mention anything to the OP. And while I do find it odd that while OP is home, a nanny is needed for an 11 and 13 year old, that's not our business.

OP, do you give the nanny any PTO? That may help in any future circumstances.

Because OP had to ask us what the appropriate course of action was, as though sending home an employee with an acute medical problem and overlooking this lone incident in her employment wasn't the obvious choice.

Is this true?

Trolls post untrue things in the hopes that people will argue and get mean. They find that fun to read. If people don't argue, they come back and post more details, or act like a new poster with an outrageous opinion to cause an argument. Some trolls post outrageous things so everyone can post sympathetically, which usually, on this board, means bashing MBs or nannies as a group.

The trouble with trolls is they manipulate people's emotions and make you put thought into their fake problem, get angry on their behalf, or try to defend them. Then, everyone looks like a fool that they wasted time on someone who just makes shit up to cause a drama. This is why trolls need to be called out.
