fire her immediately, I agree. I am frankly appalled at your wife's attitude. your child's safety and well being is at stake, this is not the lousy cleaning lady you can keep even if she does not clean the floor properly. child care is not just just whatever parking you can find for your kid while you do something else. you sound like a better parent. |
Your friends used her for years with no problem....so could you, but if you don't feel comfortable get rid of her. Simple.
It could be that she lied about her education. Big deal. Actions speak louder than words to me. But if you want someone that has the creds go ahead. Your friends trusted her and she never let them down. To me that's something. |
are you the nanny by chance? actions speak louder than words? exactly! lying to your employer about your background and experience is an action and speaks louder than any nice words the nanny may say. the problem is not that OP wants the piece of paper attesting that he as a MIT graduate for a nanny. he wants somebody who is honest about who she is, and that he can trust, and not a liar. how can he trust her from now on? poeple who lie once (especially substantial lies like these), lie all the time whenever it it convenient for them. |
More than that, it shows very poor judgement on the nanny's part. She should have known that this information would turn up on a background check and was willing to gamble that most parents wouldn't check up on her. Those are not the long-term, critical-thinking skills I want my nanny to have. |
Speaking as a nanny, I say fire her. If she would lie about her past, I can't imagine the things she would lie about when dealing with your children. You really can't be to careful. |
That's what I don't get...how can she not think that this would get revealed somehow, esp after signing a background check release?!! |
Maybe this nanny gave the background that she thought her employers wanted instead of the truth.
Really how much education do you need to be a nanny? Is there such an educational standard for parents? If you are the type of parent that outsources the care of your child to someone else then really what kind of parent are you? This nanny did a great job for years. If that means nothing to you then that's your loss. |
Oh come off it. Parents hire nannies, grandparents, daycares, childminders, au pairs, babysitters, friends, neighbors, and teachers to help care for their kids, and it says absolutely nothing about "what kind" of parent they are. If this nanny didn't have the background these parents wanted, then she wasn't the right fit for them. They are allowed to have preferences just like a nanny has preferences about the people she works for. Lying by either party to secure a job/nanny under false pretenses is wrong. The nanny deserves to be fired. |
LOL, that's what happened at the end of "Meet the Parents!" Gaylord Fokker! |
Please tell me you fired her! |
Don't be to cruelty.
