| Napping when baby naps. Vacation days unexpected. Cool bosses. Bonuses out of the blue. |
| I can wear comfy clothes and shoes to work. |
+ 1111111111 I love being able to wear yoga pants and sneakers almost every day!! |
| MB shares her pediatric journals with me. |
Naw, I wouldn't like that but they pay me enough that I can afford my own cleaning service which makes my home life easier |
|
Sounds like nannies have it pretty great!
So, why do they complain so much here? |
| Some nannies are very well compensated; others, not so much. Just like the moms! |
+1 |
| Lots of luxury travel.... At least while the kids are in preschool |
| I like wearing the comfortable clothing and shoes that I want to, that I can sleep in late since I work PT afternoons/evenings only, and that I can go do fun activities with the kids that I never got to do often growing up and just wouldn't end up doing on my own (like the exploratorium, aquarium, academy of sciences). |
Doing FUN things all day long! I mean seriously I get paid to make homemade playdough, do dinosaur math, and paint with yogurt?
Aside from that, the free trips, car, and "just because we love you" gifts are pretty awesome, too! |

I love my bosses. They aren't extremely wealthy and don't give me luxurious gifts like some of the other PP's (although that would be amazing!), but this is the first family I've worked for that have just been, real and normal.
They do pay me well ($20/hour) and I get the normal benefits (PTO, half my health insurance paid, guaranteed hours), but just having normal, laid-back, trusting employers in the nanny world is rare and appreciated. |
| 8:43 has the dream job. The parents aren't super rich, but they still find a way to pay her $20./ hr. To me that indicates mutual respect. The nanny can see how much she's valued, and therefore do a stellar job performance. |
| *does* |
+1. Also I love having additional extended family during and after employment. |
