Lol yeah I disagree a good nanny wouldn't need to do that. In my case the parents are good cop no rules and I'm bad cop so though we've had improvements in say, manners, the one child's behavior is still pretty crappy and I have no support so its hard to do much abt it.

I have simply said to a Child their name in a way that made it clear they needed to look at me. If not I would say look at me. I also will move myself down to their level if they are shorter than me.

I find it works.
