you mentioned they were preemies...is it possible that she's taking them to pt or done kind of appt/therapy? Out the library? Or music together?

I would stop the mom if you can and say - I know this is none of my business, so please feel free to ignore me, but since i am home during the day I feel a sense of obligaton to have my eyes and ears open for the working moms. I have noticed your nanny is taking the babies out for walks that seem to total aout four hours a day. I am not sure if that is what you suggested to her or not, but wanted to let you know. Anyway, hope all is well.

I am a working mom and I'd love it if stay at home moms kept an eye on my nanny. You just never know what is really going on - honestly, I'd suspect they don't either if you hadn't noticed the parents out for four hour walks prior to going back to work - the only way I can see this scenario being ok is the parents telling the nanny - kids will only sleep in motion, so get walking. . .

All you know is that it's 2 hours from beginning to end and that sometimes she walks far away. You don't know what else is happening - she could be taking the babies on outings where she is holding and interacting with them. Mind your own business.

MB encourages me to walk for 20-45min 2 times a day if possible

Maybe she's walking to the park? Play date? Errands for MB? Music class?

Seriously op, get a fucking life.

It's a sad day when the nanny would be in less trouble for sitting on her ass watching TV all dy while the kids eat cheetos. You MB's on this page take the cake.

OP here - I really don't think you all are understanding. There is no place she is going to. I initially thought that was what she was doing. But then I realized she really is just walking. It is not hard to notice things. She does not have a diaper bag with her. Never has bags or other things with her. When I stopped her one of the babies was awake. One was sleeping. I seriously doubt that the 12 lb babies are going to the playground. And yes, it is possible that she stopped at someone's house for a playdate....I really don't know. But given what I have seen these past several months it really is not likely. I am not following her, but I am in and out of the house all day so I can see these things.

I was thinking "well what if shes taking them to the park, and its 30 minutes each way?" that's an hour at the park. but i think its SO WEIRD she's in workout gear every day - the same exact outfit. Why could this be? She must be changing into workout gear for these walks? Meaning, it really is for her benefit, not theirs, right?
I don't know.. babies also sleep a lot.. it could be they just sleep better/longer in the strollers. I used to nanny for a baby and we could go out ALL DAY... from 10am - 5pm. Excessive, yes, but we would go to an activity after her morning nap, then go visit MB at work, then she'd nap in the stroller, then we'd do a quick park trip, then all of a sudden it was 5pm... so she would "be in the stroller all day" but really only between destinations and for her naps.
So, I guess I can see both sides of this.

So, great defender of the neighborhood, bastion to babies far and wide, what did you do?

I think you should casually mention it to the mom. It seems weird to me, too. I am a former nanny and have multiples experience. I can't imagine having time for hours-long walks with twins, between feedings, diaper changes, etc.

This is not weird at all, what's werid is that you feel the need to go out of your way to talk to ppl with twins. You sound lonely. My aunt had twins and did the same thing as you because staying home all day was driving her insane. She would target other parents of twins because it was a easy icebreaker. Try to find something better to do and make friends.

As for the nanny who takes infants on walks for two hours twice a day, I see nothing wrong with this. I live in the city and all you do is walk everywhere. Parents around here want there children out exploring, it's great for their development to be exposed to new surroundings. Also young babies on great schedules sleep between 4-5 hours a day. If she leaves at the same time everyday, it might during their nap time. If they are premie and have acid reflex then sleeping elevated is good for their tummies. She may change into workout clothes because she sweats and why not get a workout in if you can.

I cannot believe that posters are being SO negative! I am a working mom with a nanny who tells me when she sees something that isn't right with neighborhood friend's nannies-- and invariably-- the mom is glad to know or says-- thanks- no it isn't a problem- but I APPRECIATE you keeping an eye on my children.
