. Not weird, though. I really like Classical education.Don’t really know this school, but understand that it’s classical and small, however, many small schools start with family members coming together. So many of the area schools, like ones mentioned, Fairfax Christian School, and others, employ family members. Hardly creepy or cultish, and certainly not something you would compare to what happened with the Catholic Church and their schools. In politics, think of how many other Presidents employed their family members. Not just Trump. JFK’s Attorney General was his brother, Bobby. He wielded a lot of influence. Just my opinion. |
| Well, the RFK thing is, of course, true. And I’m not the one who compared any of this to the Catholic Church. That said, I wouldn’t want to send my kid the place, but to each their own. |
| My son goes to this school and we had a fantastic experience so far. During COVID pandemic, my child received a full online education, not missing a day in a class. Their math is advanced in comparison to public schools, they teach cursive writing and offer various extra curriculum activities. They are also accredited, please email school or visit their website for information before you post untrue information on public forums. |
| I just found this thread. My children have been attending Veritas Fairfax since 2017 and we just love the place. The school has tripled in enrollment over the past 4 years. I believe it began with only a handful of students, maybe 50. Now there's probably around 160 or 170. The families are very involved, especially during COVID. Graduates have been accepted to top universities, but this is not why we are here. Veritas excels in that area, but more so in character development. My children have been more than thriving here. They are growing in who they are, and who they can be. Encouraging our children, especially during the Pandemic, is extremely important for their mental health. We are thankful that the school is not only about high SAT scores and AP courses, and recognizes the holistic aspects of their students. Plus, we are entering the home stretch of the school year, and they managed to stay open serving our children 5 days a week, with minimal interruptions. My children will be here until graduation. We are very thankful we found this school. |
| Reviving this thread for families considering this school. They will pass themselves off as accredited and tout their achievements on Niche, however they are NOT ACCREDITED. Veritas Collegiate Academy has several campuses and the locations in Vienna, Va and Arlington, Va are not accredited by VCPE or AdvancedED (now Cognia.org). A quick search on Cognia’s website or an email to office@vcpe.org will give any parent seeking clarification direction. Do not be scammed by this for profit school. This is not a stable Christian environment. Parents- you are better off saving your money and staying in FCPS. |
This school has maybe 100 students this year for both campuses. Administrators run off families. |
| We heard a rumor that they may hav closed up shop after tuition was due for fall. Sounds wild; anyone know about the validity of said statement? |
By posting a fake “parent asking questions” post with the school name in the title and then replying to it themselves posing as “satisfied parents?” Plenty. |
From what I heard from someone from my school's admission's department, Veritas closed their Vienna location this summer, which was a big surprise for parents of enrolled students. There were a batch of late applicants trying to get into our school as a result. Veritas's Arlington campus is still open, but Vienna vs. Arlington is a big change as far as commuting goes. |
| How is this school ranked so high on niche (I know this is an old thread but WHAT?!) |
It's internet review based, isn't it? You just need one dude to log on and post good reviews from a couple of different IP addresses. |
| Its accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). |
| I know nothing about this school but what is it about the school that makes it overrated at rank #6? Are they notoriously bad for something? |
