When the parent goes on all play dates with their kid

Anonymous
I just meet another mom that never leaves her kid. She her oldest is my kids age 7. So even if they know the other parent really well they go on all of the play dates with the kid. Ok. So if I ask her if she wants to get the kids together to play and I’m cleaning the house and don’t want to entertain her. Will she come over and watch both kids while I’m cleaning? Do I tell her before hand that I don’t want to host?

Is Larla available on Saturday? She's welcome to come here. I'm planning to reorganize the closets but I'm sure the kids will have a blast playing in the basement. Let me know if that works for you.

I’d just say “I’d be happy to host a drop-off playdate.”

My kid is 6 and all my friends still come along for playdates. I don't know anyone who is doing drop off playdates at this age.

This happened w/ my DD’s friend (3rd grade). She either wanted to meet somewhere public or stay for play date. I liked the mom a lot, but didn’t always want to entertain her. I had dinner to cook, work to do etc. Eventually I stop asking about play dates.

My kid’s anxiety is so bad he won’t go to drop off play dates (yes, we are working on it). I’m up front about that though and always offer to host instead.

My oldest daughter said to me, "Why are you still here?" at age 5. She wants me to walk in, take five minutes to talk to the parent, and then kiss her goodbye and leave. She's a "strong, independent woman."

We started at 5 for all kids. At 4, we did drop offs when we knew the family pretty well.

We started drop off play dates at 5. Seems like a universal drop off age in my neighborhood.

Same, except she didn't tell me she was staying until she showed up for the first playdate and just stayed and stayed....I hadn't even thought the possibility of her staying because the kids were 8 at that point. Everyone I knew had drop-off playdates from 5-6 on. I tell you, 3 hours is a long time to make small talk with another parent when the kids are that old and parental supervision of the playdate is not much needed (the kids disappeared into my DD's room and played nicely the whole time).

Not a big deal, I'd be fine with that.

I've had parents drop off their 3 year olds. Especially common when kid has older siblings (is the 7 year old coming too? no).
