This happened w/ my DD’s friend (3rd grade). She either wanted to meet somewhere public or stay for play date. I liked the mom a lot, but didn’t always want to entertain her. I had dinner to cook, work to do etc. Eventually I stop asking about play dates.
Same, except she didn't tell me she was staying until she showed up for the first playdate and just stayed and stayed....I hadn't even thought the possibility of her staying because the kids were 8 at that point. Everyone I knew had drop-off playdates from 5-6 on. I tell you, 3 hours is a long time to make small talk with another parent when the kids are that old and parental supervision of the playdate is not much needed (the kids disappeared into my DD's room and played nicely the whole time).
