Albertson Fury 02/03 are the worst team Nationally. |
Being the worst in the GDA is like being the worst player in the NFL hall of fame though. |
The reflexive Spirit bashing is a tired theme across this board. (As is the reflexive “Spirit ROCKS!” posting.) maybe this will help dial it down? (1) Spirit VA is currently in the middle (18/19) or at the bottom (15 and 16/17) of the DA standings, in part due to the fact that they are new and have no established talent pipeline. (2) Nonetheless, girls on Spirit teams, both MD and VA, are getting decent recruiting results (which is what DA/ECNL soccer is mostly about for girls). (3) There are parents and girls who are choosing to remain with or move to Spirit VA for a variety of reasons. They actually like the development trajectory and recruitment prospects for the individual player, so are choosing to stay despite having other options. Spirit VA is their only option b/c their player wouldn’t be able to make another DA/ECNL team. Spirit VA is convenient geographically and other options are less so. They prefer DA and an academy setting, with opportunities to play with other age groups, to other available options. THey prefer the pro team affiliation. Etc. (4) There are parents and girls who are choosing to depart Spirit VA for a variety of reasons. They do not like the development trajectory for their individual player or where that player falls in the positional rankings. They want to preference high school play. They’re done with club soccer overall. They want to be on a team that is more likely to win. Some other option is more convenient geographically. They prefer to be in a league (ECNL) that they think will provide better recruitment opportunities. Etc. All in all, YMMV. |

Don't feed the troll.
Hint, the "Spirit Rocks" posts are from her as well, including the asinine post that started this latest Tourette's like eruption. She really needs psychological help. |

Spirit MD is a good program. The name is the only thing those spirit programs have in common. I don’t think anyone has ever bashed MD. Why would they?
Also stop putting so much stock in showcase results. These are weekends for uncommitted players to shine. Most coaches are playing kids and not necessarily trying to win the game at all costs. |
Pro team affiliation? It’s a name and a jersey. That’s about it. You couldn’t pay me to put my DD anywhere near Richie Burke. DD also plays for top team in the area. I’m not a bitter parent. I’m just a realist. |
| Why is there already a 6 goal blow out in the top bracket at U15 girls? How do they arrange these brackets? |
I thought the Spirit rocks posts were sarcasm from someone. Add to what you said: there is new leadership at the higher levels of Spirit that will likely change and raise the level of the expectation of teams for next year. The rumor is that one of the changes will be more selective rosters. That will probably change a lot of problems for both the U15 and U17 teams. |
Maybe one team got caught a couple times early as they settled into the game, then got killed on the counter as they opened up more to try and chase it. It’s a funny old game
|
Keep dreaming Spirit parent. I’m assuming you’ll blame it on a new team not clicking? |
I'm guessing new leadership is more interested in cashing checks than changing anything... |
Of course. That is fine but in the top bracket? So much time and money spent to attend these things - give good attention to the bracket placements is the point. |
They're 15 year old girls in a tournament seeded by people who have never seen they play relative to any other squad. UVa lost by 20 to a 16 seed last year in the NCAA basketball tournament --- that's why they play the games. |
Based on general rankings the bracket looked fine. Sometimes it happens. |
Ok. Whatever. By this age a lot of people have seen these teams over the years and I was puzzled as just a dumb soccer parent by some of these placement much less some one who should know. I dont think we have seen the last of the lopsided games. |
