The Bullying and Harassment Form is actually mandated by the Maryland State Department of Education. The school was supposed to do a follow up meeting with the victim. At that meeting, the school system should share what was learned during its investigation and check to see if bullying is continuing. The family should be in contact with central office or the State Department of Education if the school is falling short on their follow up. The IEP team should also review if the bullying has had repercussions on the student that needs to be reflected on his IEP. |
The bully in our program is a US born white boy. |
Nothing. MCPS Teachers don't realize that MCEA is what is known as a "Yellow Union"; it often just does Admin's bidding. When MCPS clearly violates the contracts, the Union response has often LITERALLY been, "we asked MCPS if it was a violation, and THEY said NO. So what can we do?" Every school I've been at, things are so cordial that Admin is actually often present during Union Votes. A real union would not allow that. I'd actually support a strong union, but the current lap-dog union makes me happy about Janus v. AFSCME. |
All of these have been reported in local media. Not the WP but in community papers and websites. |
No. What happens ignore teacher presses charges is usually a peace order first. Unfortunately, the offending student’s right to education exceeds the attacked teacher’s right to safety and normal life, and the teacher must be assigned to work someplace else so that the student does not violate the peace order. If this lasts long enough, the teacher actually could lose his or her job assignment. Now, the teacher will not be let go, but may not be able to return the original assignment. Fair? |
Let me get this straight. You hope the she doesn’t teach at your kids school because she correctly identified that blacks and Latinos were involved in all the fights? Head stuck in the sand much? I began a second career with MCPS ten years ago. I’ve seen about two fights a week and I don’t recall a single fight that involved white students. The worst fights involve black girls and the most dangerous part is when the hordes come running down the hallway s to be spectators. It used to be a 3-5 day suspension for fighting. Now the principals are under pressure not to suspend minorities that nothing happens. I hear from friends the situation is worse in other schools. |
