Just curious, what did Honey do with her life? |
I know a successful financial exec named Adorable. But it's pronounced the Spanish way, Ah-dor-ah-blay. |
I went to school with a Sweetie. |
Makes me think of Honey Wilkes from Gone With the Wind. But I digress. In any case, I agree with a PP that says there are many worse things than having a name that indicates affection and love! Would a "Honey Jones" sound odd on a corporate resume? perhaps. but is that the measure of life? (And I have read Freakonomics, and in fact, to agree with another PP, it is correct that studies show that oddly-named people did NOT have a harder time in life/careers, contrary to poopular belief.

Bartender at a little dive back home is named Sweetie. |
A teller at my old bank was named Peaches. I couldn't look her in the eye. |
There's a Peaches in an August Wilson play; can't remember which one. |
i know a "honey" and a "treasure." |
She graduated from a southern college, has a great job on the hill (mom's doing), and owns a spectacular house in eastern market (again, mom.) |
Oh, and she is 24. |
Girls from the south often have such names. In Washington I know a "Sweet" a "Honey" and a "Candy". All are girls from old blue-bloody southern families that are big fish in small southern towns. Maybe it has something to do with in breeding? or the poor quality of schools (e.g ignorance) in the South? Or maybe the cadence of a southern voice just makes those names sound so charming and nobody cares if little Ol' Honey goes to Law School. Who knows, its just the way some folks are... Be glad its them and not you - that is how I always look at it. "There but for the grace of God go I." |
Sweetie is a stupid name. So is Honey. I have a neighbor named Honey and it's uncomfortable everytime I have to address her.
Yes there are worse things in this world than having a child named something like "loved one". But this thread isn't called, "Which is worse? World hunger or the name Sweetie?" And yes, I may be mean. Maybe my name should be Meanie. But that would still be a better name than Sweetie. |
i know a woman named Lady. She is a nicu nurse at a local hospital. For those of you with premature babies, she may have cared for (or helped to save the life of) your baby. Shame on you for name-calling about something like names. I bet there are 50000 ellas and aidens and emilies and emmas and tylers and jacks and rileys on this board. Borrrrrrrrrrrrring. Why not sweetie? Why not honey? But really, why do you freaks care? |
I think it's horrible.
I would have a very hard time addressing such people by name. Definitely couldn't take them seriously. |
It's pronounced Nee-vah-yah. It's Heaven spelled backwards. |
