How come everyone's depressed and anxious?

Because Pharma funded commercials tell you that you are & you need to see your doctor?

Too much work while at the same time caring for kids and a house, our lives in this country are insane.

Huh? Maybe it is your world going to hell. Mine world is beautiful. I am surrounded by loving people. My kids are healthy (both, mentally and physically), I am doing what I love to do in my life. I am not rich, but have no debts at all. I travel a lot around the world and I love it. I am glad i am above moderate intelligence to experience what you described above.

Quaint. I can see you are very happy in your bubble. I am sorry for your children and theirs that you don't care more about the world they will inherit. Why, just this morning, there is this https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2018/04/11/the-oceans-circulation-hasnt-been-this-sluggish-in-1000-years-thats-bad-news/?utm_term=.9bc09c8ce7fd
I am not someone who thinks people should agonize so much they are paralyzed. But I really want to shake people who just blithely go around living in their pleasant bubbles without regard for the suffering of others and for the environmental crisis we are in. We need people to wake up so we can take action! And yes, that might mean curtailing your globetrotting. On your travels, perhaps you have had occasion to observe all the ways that people in other countries are suffering from the effects of climate change? Increased floods, droughts, fires?

Thank for your question. I think that many are suffering anxiety or depression because of many factors. However much of this can be attributed to lack of love and communication in families, the excessive use of the social media, iPhone, tablets, video games, that block the interaction between human beings. Also, because of the breakdown of the traditional family.

Racism, homophobia, islamophobia, and misogyny.

For white, straight, liberals, the prevalence of the ugliness of the last year has been an awakening - and we have not woke to hearts and flowers. We feel for our fellow friends, family, colleagues who must deal with the ugliness every day (even if we ourselves are relatively unscathed and lead lives of comfort), and that empathy/sympathy can cause anxiety and depression about the way things are and questions about whether they will ever get better.

Yes- I totally agree. I’m wearing the weight of our societies transgressions against one another.

Unrealistic expectations about financial wealth, careers and physical appearance, all constantly perpetuated by our consumerist culture.

Let's face it. Almost all professional parents on this site want their kids to get into an ivy or "name brand" university and come out with a top paying job. Maybe five to 10 percent will make it. The kids and parents both end up feeling like they have failed before life has even really started.

Cavemen never knew the latest weird happenings that were going on all over the globe. They just lived in their own cave happily drawing art on the walls.

Social isolation, exacerbated by antisocial online media.

For rich white folk of every political stripe, it’s caused by a sense that their white privilege is slipping. So they fight like mad dogs to hold on.

Trump, for sure.
