How come everyone's depressed and anxious?

Anonymous
Trump doesn’t make me depressed or anxious. He just pisses me off.

24/7 news - makes you think awful things are happening all the time.

Not enough time outside in nature

Yes, not enough time in nature. Step outside and suddenly you feel happier. Anxiety had a purpose for escaping being eaten. Now we spend all our time doing unnatural things that make no sense. The world is turning into a crazy cess pool.

Duh, because the world is going to hell. Anyone of at least moderate intelligence and a modicum of compassion is depressed and anxious.

Yes, this is it for me.

Order of angst:

Trump

Late arriving spring

Chronic pain

Mountains of work

Lots of things that happen in life that throw you for a loop and you are diagnosed with PTSD, BPD, Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, a life-threatening illness with no cure, trichotillomania, fighting for your disability to be approved, and OCD through the roof. That's my story. On a good note, at least I don't cut as often, and I'm covering my scars with music tattoos, one arm at a time.

Huh? Maybe it is your world going to hell. Mine world is beautiful. I am surrounded by loving people. My kids are healthy (both, mentally and physically), I am doing what I love to do in my life. I am not rich, but have no debts at all. I travel a lot around the world and I love it. I am glad i am above moderate intelligence to experience what you described above.

I think that life for the most part was designed for people to only exist for a season. You meet them, they serve their purpose and then they exit. Social media however, has created this unnatural ability for folks to stay in your life indefinitely. Some people who were no longer meant to be a part of your life are still their and it is causing energy flows to be disrupted.

This makes a lot of sense to me.

Essentially, too much shelter and safety. We are supposed to be anxious about threats, but there are no threats, and our brains haven't evolved to handle modern life.

Open your eyes. A lot of people don't have shelter or safety. I guess you're talking about yourself?

Puh-lease with the pearl-clutching. The people without shelter or safety SHOULD be anxious and depressed, I think OP is talking about regular middle class people who are on scores of meds.

Why do you think that? Are you that myopic?

It's almost a fad for the teen crowd. They all talk about their depression, anxiety, etc. (My DD and her friends all share stories and talk about their issues regularly). I know that people do have real issues, and of course, they should be treated, but I do think that there is some dilution going on by people who are classifying themselves with some of these psychological issues.
