Men, do you hold the door for women?

Anonymous
I think ALL people need to have better manners. If someone holds the door, "thank you" is appropriate, with "you are welcome". If someone is walking directly behind you, hold the door, regardless of who it is.

btw if I hold a door or (gasp) say "good morning" , I am not inviting you to have sex with me, even though I have a great body. And if I smile and say "good morning"while heading to my desk, you don't need to look down and scurry away as if I asked you for money! I am just being polite!

I love when men hold the door and we’ve taught our son to do the same. He always gets complimented for his good manners.

I hope you also taught your daughters equally good manners to hold the door open.

I hold the door for ANYONE, male or female, who is the "close enough" distance behind me.

I only hold the door for women whose vaginas I have stuck my penis in.

Sure, I'll hold the door for anyone, that is within five paces, I do it with a smile and without expectations. I've found if you do it with a smile, catch their eyes, say good morning, usually receives a positive response.

However, I will go out of my way to open doors for my DW. That small gesture always puts a smile on her face, makes her feel special, and is always appreciated. The returns are tenfold. I see it as how any man should treat his DW, that he loves and respects.

I'm 42...

I say 3-5 seconds.

I'm a woman who holds the door a lot. I'm sometimes surprised at the number of women who don't say thanks.

I taught my 10 year old son to hold the door open for whoever is behind him or looks like they are coming to the door. A lot of people will not say thank you to him. Told him to loudly say, “you are welcome.” He always gets a thank you after that

That’s very rude.

You’re teaching your son to be very rude. We are polite and do the right things in life because they’re the right things to do —not to get thanked. Good grief!

I do!

Sure. I hold it for men too. And I'm sure to say please and thank you. It's basic politeness.

Also polite is giving some consideration to whether your holding the door is unhelpful -- e.g. when the person is too far away and now you're making them rush. (There is inevitably an awkward zone where you're not quite sure whether they're too far away or not. Not a big deal.)

No. Only for senior citizens and kids, regardless of gender.

18-64....hold your own door, unless both hands are occupied

52, yes. All the time for all women. That's the best way to check out her ass up close

I know. I'd rather be right than not disgusting
