This is the equivalent of getting a tattoo. What seems like a good idea at one time is not at another, but it's permanent.

Just put my name and the dates on my gravestone.

Hi Tattoo Expert. Do you have one?

Before you start with "They are trashy, etc." think about why people may get them. I have a number of friends that have them to remember children they have lost. Not one of them has thought getting the tat was a bad idea later (even decades later.) Tattoos are permanent and so are certain kinds of loss. One can help easy the pain of another.

Actually it's not permanent. Your family can decide to change it.

Hamlet's mother. Awesome, so many times over.
What, say you?

Hmmm. I've always felt this line is sort of sexist. Or at least sexist guys use it way too much.

I am the OP and I can see how you would think this. I did the direct quote but it I think I would have to find a way to rephrase it. The "doth protest too much". might be good enough. Now I'll be thinking about this all day. If you have any ideas, please help me recouch this.

but what do you mean to say by it?

The quote would imply that whatever you were denying you did while alive was actually what you did do (as evidenced by all the protesting you did.)

I don't get it!

Yeah, what came to my mind was, to paraphrase:

"Mom complained a lot. So we shot her."

I'm not sure the OP understands the quotation.

"It could always be worse."

Ha! Perfect. I'm so curious about what OP mistakenly thought this quote meant.
