I'm the Amsterdam poster. Now that you say mid-April, I recommend Amsterdam even more highly! It is a treat to see Holland at tulip time. Keukenhof gardens, the fields on the way to Delft, flower marts, beauty everywhere. And great museums in Amsterdam. Churches, too, plus the Anne Frank House and rides on the canals. We like to stay in the Hotel Pulitzer. |
Reminds me of this lovely song: http://youtu.be/lz2qpnRB5_E |
Prague is a fantastic idea. |
Hard to get to for such a short time |
This is a great idea. Amsterdam is relatively easy to get to for the US -direct flight, one of the closer European cities. |
Bruges. or Carcasonne.
or Prague |
I'd say Tallinn and/or Helsinki (they're an easy couple-hour ferry ride apart, and both are amazing if somewhat small cities) but they will probably be pretty cold still in April. ![]() |
Lyon is really lovely and the food/wine is to die for. |
I'm the one who asked when you are traveling ![]() I agree Amsterdam and environs would be great that time of year. Since you've already been to all the Southern European countries (which would have better weather in April) I would go for something seasonal. Spring is hard in Europe -- weather is very unreliable, often wet, and best you can hope for is cool but not cold. A close second would be Belgium (Brussels, Bruges, Ghent). We went last summer and I had little knowledge and very low expectations and was blown away. Beautiful sights and architecture, amazing food, charming old cities, art, nature, lovely. |
Istanbul, Scotland, Prague, Iceland, Copenhagen. i believe these are places not already on your list. Iceland gives you pre-historic, natural wonder, Istanbul is crossroads between civilizations. Prague is Eastern European charm and Copenhagen is purely awesome with a population that speaks English and a fully accessible by public transport, beautiful, foodie city |
I love Copenhagen and would go back again. Same with Amsterdam. I am obsessed with tulips. I would do Iceland but maybe in the winter. I am also interested in these islands: Capri, Corsica, and Sardinia. There are too many choices. |
Berlin! Amazing city, affordable, good shopping, fabulous museums, interesting history. |
Amersterdam is lovely and an easy flight. I also like Bruge, but it is a couple of hours away from Brussels. |
Seville or San Sebastián. Spain every time! |
Istanbul is fantastic and four days is a good amount of time, even less would work.
An easy trip would be Paris. If you need to escape the city, do a day trip out to wine/champagne country by train. Easy and affordable. |
