We have been to Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Ireland and England (London) prior to getting married and having kids, and we would love to try somewhere new. Where would you go if you had this opportunity? Any particularly great places for this kind of 4 day trip? Given the short length of the trip and the fact that we have kids at home, we want to go somewhere with a direct flight from here and where we will be pretty connected by phone and Internet. So far, a few people have suggested Prague. Thanks!
Sorry, trying to figure out the logistics... Will be already be in Europe? Will you fly direct from DC to meet him?
Also what time of year are we talking about?
You've gotten some good suggestions.... For direct flights I'd look at Brussels (and Bruges or Ghent), Vienna (plenty to do for 3-4 days), Amsterdam, Munich (you could add Garmisch or Neuschwanstein).
Some other ideas (but not sure if there are direct flights from DC) would be Prague and Budapest as already suggested and maybe Stockholm if going in summer.
Croatia is great but I don't think logistically easy for a longn weekend. Don't think there are direct flights to Dubrovnik or Split.
Consider jet lag also -- the shorter flights will leave more time for sightseeing, which argues for Amsterdam or Brussels and against Budapest.
