The only personal trainer I know around here (Arlington) is Coco Low. I hear good things about her. www.cocofitness.com

As a mom to a 2.5 year old, I know what you are feeling. I have been carrying around the extra "baby weight" for a while and finally just had to make a decision to do something. I tried walking if I had time, but that didn't work so well when my little guy could climb out of the stroller. I tried dieting and that worked for a little while, but I often got bored and just stopped. I read an article in the Washington Post about a new kind of fitness studio called Transform Fitness. I have to say that after meeting with the Director and taking a whole life and body assessment, I was hooked. It's not your traditional gym which I love. There are no machines and skinny women running around in spandex in full makeup! Instead, Anne Johns, customizes a workout specifically for your body type, fitness level, and lifestyle. She does work with pre and post baby bodies! I love her approach to each individual and not just a face. After a couple of weeks, I am already noticing a difference in my body shape and overall energy level! You can bring your baby with you I think and she offers kids classes too! Check her and her staff out - they are wonderful. www.transformfit.com. They are located in Rockville, right off of intersection of Montrose and 355. You can also email me offline if you want more info: marijkes at gmail Good luck!

i agree with a PP, i tried WW and I was starving. i couldn't stick to it. and i felt like i couldn't eat anything decent. I hate 100 calorie packs and those things because they're so processed. it just tastes like plastic (i don't like 300 calorie pack things either).

I think for weight watchers to work well - as in not leave you feeling starving - you really have to make different food choices. I went on WW to lose baby wieght after #1, and it really worked once I started eating like I was on Phase 2 or 3 of the SOuth Beach diet, with much more occasional splurges. Also, I found exercise to be key while on WW, so I would have enough points to feel satisfied.

Suzanne Reilly is a great personal trainer who focuses primarily in the Cleveland Park area and upper NW. She can come to your house and work with you. I worked out with her for 6 months or so and she was constantly mixing up the workouts so make them interesting and also gave me plenty of exercises to pick and choose from on my own. She has a BS in Kinesiology so she really understands the body and each muscle involved in each exercise. Her website is suzannereilly.com - where you can find her contact info etc. I highly recommend her.

The best "diet" I have found is sticking to only eating foods I want my child to eat, so I could be a good role model. Not only does this mean more fruits and veggies and avoiding junk food, but it also means avoiding "diet" foods and fads. So if you need help, I'd focus on a nutrionalist versus a "diet plan."

I'm sure a lot of my weight problems were from growing up in a house where mom was either pigging out on junk (after her weigh-ins at WW or on some super strict, crazy diet (can we say cottage cheese and soft-boiled eggs).

How much do personal trainers typically cost? Just ballpark.

It really depends on what you want out of the training and how you like to work out. My trainer works on session packages ie 10, 12, 16 sessions for a price. Totally worth it in my opinion! The muffin top is disappearing and the abs I thought I had lost from c-section are returning nicely.

what would a session cost, just for a ballpark. is it in the range of 1/2 hour for $50?

PP Here: the sessions are an hour to hour and a half in length and range from $26-32 per session depending on what package you choose. The more sessions you book, the cheaper it is.

That is an awesome rate - can you post her contact info? Thanks.
