Diets and personal trainers

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good diet plan? Also, does anyone know of a personal trainer that specializes in post partum weight loss? It's time to let go of the baby weight.

Amanda Marr Book at Stroller Strides in DC. She is super nice, has a Masters in Health Communication, is a mom and does personal training as well as Stroller Strides. A real energy-giver. I haven't used her PT services myself but i am in a playgroup thing with her and everyone seems to think she is excellent as a trainer and motivator--and she has been there! Check out stroller strides DC website for contact info...

As for diet, I've always stuck to the principles of phase 2 and 3 of South Beach. There is a good cookbook that I use, something like "Quick and Easy SB recipes". That is how I lost my baby weight, and how I keep it in check. I exercise about 60-90 minutes 5-6 times a week, so I get to indulge every so often as well.

I am a personal trainer that specializes in post-natal weight loss. You can contact me if you are interested in personal training. Also, you can take classes at The Hot Mama Fitness Studio. We will soon be starting bootcamps and express workouts as well.

By the way, diets don't work. The key is to learn to make healthy choices and to control your portions. We can work on that as well.

I have trained with Vionna and I would recommend her!

A diet recommendation is hard because it really depends on you. Keep a food journal and talk to a nutritionist. I have tried WW before and will confess I lost ten pounds (all I was tring to lose) in like 6 weeks so it was certainly effective but I was STARVING the whole time. Like delirious, near tears, crazy starving. Uh yeah, no wonder it worked, right?

Hi. I also trained with Vionna when I was pregnant with my second child and for many months after she was born. Vionna is incredible for pre- and post-natal fitness training. She's a great trainer and provides wonderful support.

Vionna Jones of Hot Mama Fitness Studio is wonderful! I was looking for certified prenatal trainers and she came up in Google. She is extremely knowledgeable on training with expectant mom's and her workouts always left me feeling that I did a great workout but never uncomfortable. I trained with her from the beginning of my pregnancy all the way through and did my last session with her the day before I delivered. In fact, my labor was less than 5 hours which was amazing from what I am told for your first baby. I think her workouts definitely prepared my body for the labor.

I also have worked out with Vionna at Hot Mama Fitness, and have done baby boot camp and stroller strides. If you want the most economical way to get back in shape and are really motivated and disciplined, go with baby boot camp or stroller strides. I did personal training with Vionna for six months, and have lost ALL the baby weight (40+pounds since December). I knew I needed a personal trainer who expected me to be there. If I wasn't accountable to a trainer, I wouldn't work out. It was worth the little bit extra to pay to get the results I've gotten.

Weight Watchers. I started about a year ago in July, lost 22 lbs by early October and have kept all of the weight off ever since. It was the best thing I have ever done!

I am the PP. I stopped in October when I lost my 22 lbs. Basically I still weigh myself and give myself a 4 lb swing to work with. So I have lost anywhere between 18-22 lbs and kept it off. I basically have not gone back to my old way of eating. Still do the 100 calorie pack snacks, salads, 2 pieces of pizza instead of 3.

So it will be a year on July 7th since I started and have kept off all of the weight but I really keep an eye on the scale. I am back to the weight I always was and I am not going back!

Thank you PP! Good for you! I am sure you look great, but more importantly feel great!

One of my good friends trained with Vionna as well, but I am in NOVA with a significant amount of weight to lose. Any recommendations for trainers in the Fairfax City area?
