Can you please elaborate on the people who see you at the store using coupons and liken it to stealing? you say you are checking out around 10:30 at night, so how many people are actually accusing you of stealing? This is the whole premise of your thread. |
Given that description, it sounds like these are random strangers whose opinion you should not give a damn about. |
On what planet is using coupons a form of theft? That's just stupid.

Are you going to answer my question at 18:43, or ignore it like you have so far? |
20 minutes a day is 140 minutes a week. We will round down that to 2 hours. You saved 150 dollars off your grocery bill. I make more than 75 an hour so in my eyes its not worth my 2 hours a week. |
+1 I'd be irritated if I had to wait behind you in the only regular checkout line but otherwise I would not care. Retailers are reimbursed for the cost of coupons so it is the manufacturer that pays for the free product, not the customers. Only a small percentage of coupons are actually redeemed. |
How do you know this? Have they told you? |
I'm going to guess ONE person made a comment, likely another weirdo who shops late at night. |
I paid $10 for supplies to make my own laundry soap last year . I just ran out of one of them. I think you're spending way too much on laundry soap even with coupons. Plus you're adding crap to the landfil. If you really want to be proud, tasked this clipping thing to the next level and go green. See how little stuff you can buy instead of how much you can buy for so little. |
What a great idea! What recipe did you use? Did you like how it worked? I see this recipe: Pour in the borax, washing soda, and pot of soap; stir until dissolved. 4. Cover the bucket and let the mixture sit for 24 hours. The mixture will be a little clumpy, so give it a good stir before using. |
Soooo.....someone walks up to you and accuses you of stealing? Really? One person? More than one person?
I've fallen away from couponing, but when i was doing it regularly, I was spending maybe 30 minutes a week, plus an extra 15 minutes in the store. I did not buy extra papers or anything, only weekend paper coupons I clipped. I would ave about 20% on my grocery bill (and LOVED double dollar coupon week!). I'm starting to get back into it - it's fun. I hate those people who sniff at coupons and say they don't eat processed food. As you said, coupons on toiletries, cleaning supplies, and paper goods save you a lot. Also staples, like olive oil and soy sauce, basic kid snacks, the occasional frozen pizza, ice cream, etc. |
I was watching a daytime court show the other day where a woman was suing a shop owner because he harassed her after she took an entire tray of deli meats that were "free samples" and put them in her purse.
I don't think extreme couponers are that bad but it's the same ilk. You're not stealing but not really using the coupons in the spirit of what they are for and you're really annoying to interact with in the store. |
I think More power to you. I use coupons for products that I actually use but only two or three at a time. You ha e every right to use coupons a,d toigh toodles to the twits who think they are so important that all libes should open like the Red Sea for them. I'd rather be behind someone with screaming kids. Using coupons IS NOT stealing. |
Seems you may not understand, but if someone says, "Wow, you got that for a steal!" it doesn't mean that they really think you stole it. |
I love to save with coupons. Especially on toiletries, frozen veggies, dairy products and bread.
I need to get in a coupon club. |
