Unscientific poll-how many inches did your dd grow after her first period?

| Don't have a daughter, but I also got my period at 10 and as an adult am 5'0". I don't think I was full height when I got my period but I did not grow more than an inch or two. I definitely stopped growing by 6th grade. |

no idea. I was pretty average for the first 7 or 8 years of my life, if I'm remembering those meticulous growth charts my mother recorded correctly. And then I just...slowed down. But, at 9 I started pretty intense sports training, which may have played a factor, and am fairly small-boned. My small size didn't cause too much concern, because my maternal grandparents were small (5'4" and 5'1"), as was my paternal grandfather (5'5"). Everyone was far more surprised when I grew so much in high school. I didn't love being small, but on the other hand, I think I was much more emotionally ready to deal with my period at 15. I cannot imagine going through that at 10. It sounds awful, just awful. So that was a nice "bonus." |

My parents are both average height, though there are a few other petite women in my extended family. I got my period at almost 13. I was chubby and 5'0, grew to be 5'1. I remember coming back to school at the beginning of 8th grade and feeling very short, since it seemed like all my peers had growth spurts that summer.
BTW what's wrong with being short, OP? While I hated that my friends went through the "coltish" phase while I stayed short and chunky, I slimmed down by the end of high school and loved the attention I got for being petite. |

| I can tell you how much I grew. I was 11 and about 5'3 or 5'4. I went up to 5'7 where I remain today (with a little shrinkage due to age). |

At 10 she was the same height, 5'2". So she did grow more than the average of two additional inches, but far less than what we anticipated. Her shoe size is 10 (was a size 8 1/2 when she got her period) |

I grew 6 inches. I was 9 almost 10 when I started. I was fie feet. I was 5'4" at age 11 and didn't grow for two years. I hoped I'd stay that height but at 13 I was 5'5 and 14 I was 5 6. I thought I had quit growing at 11 and was pretty disappointed when I started to grow again.

| DD was 5'9 at age 14. She is 5'10 at 15 and. Her feet just grew 1/2 size to 10. I am 5'11 and hope she is a little taller than me. Her 17 yo brother is just over 6'2 and also a later bloomer. |

Some of these replies are very assuring. my DD got her period in October (she turned 13 in Jan) and the doctor mentioned she will grow only another inch or 2.
She needs to grow 4 inches to come to my height. If the peds say that growth is limited after first period, then we will have a short generation as more and more girls are getting their period earlier. |
