Unscientific poll-how many inches did your dd grow after her first period?

I got mine at almost 13. I ended up at 5'2.5" as an adult-- I can't remember how tall I was before my period, but it was at least 5', I think 5'1", so I don't think I grew a ton.

To add, though-- there's only one tallish branch of my parents' families. My dad has one very short and one average side of the family, and my mom's has one very short and one tallish branch. My brother and I both ended up a little shorter than average-- he's 5'7".

About to find out. My 12.5 year old daughter just got hers. She's 4'11" and her birth parents are short, so I hope she reaches 5'1".

I was 5'7" at my first period at 11. Was 5'8" when I was 13. Grew an inch and a half freshman year in college, when I was away from my mom and could eat anything I wanted. So ended up almost 5'10".

5"4 when I got my period at 12.5. Ended up just squeaking by to 5"5. Prior health charts indicated I would be 5"8 ish, but it wasn't very surprising as the women in my family don't tend to grow much after first period. The males tend to be later bloomers and are all over 6 feet.

Interesting. My DD started this summer right at 11. She’s about 5’0 now, very long legged, size 6 in women’s shoes. I would be surprised if she stopped growing and topped out at only 5’2 or so, her build just doesn’t suggest that. I am very petite (5’1, 100 lbs) but her dad is 6’3, brother is 6’0 and the other women in my family are 5’7-5’10. I’m imagining she will end up somewhere around my sister at 5’8, they have a very similar body type.

Bumping this thread because DD just got her period at 11.5. She’s tiny- barely 60 lbs and 4.8”. Her father and I are both on the taller side. Is this worth bringing up to the pediatrician?

You think she will grow 8” more inches? That would be unusual. She will probably be close to your height. It’s not a big deal

Look at her knees. I can always predict by where the knees are. Are her knees higher than yours? If they are lower, then she might not grow a ton more. I predicted that my cousin's younger dd will be taller than her older one. Mom is 5'4" dad is probably 6'3" if not taller. She is now at 14 well over 5'10". Have to add, she is stunning! Not bcs of the height her face is, I kid you not, exotic model like.

Pediatrician here. Haven't seen a girl grow more than 3 inches after onset of menstruation. Usually no more than 2.

This is also like my kid, just turned 11. I’m going to bring it up to the ped, but not much to do about it as I’m too concerned with risks from growth hormones to do that. I’m hoping she hits 5’0, but that’s 4 inches and seems unlikely. I am 5’0. I got my period at 11 1/2 or 12 1/2. No one in my family tracked my growth before or after that, and I have no medical records.
