DD had a big growth spurt before she got her first period (~3.5 in.) and then grew a little over 2 more in. after she got her period, but that was over about a year and a half span. |
If you are concerned, it is easy to have the doctor order a bone age study, which uses x-rays of the wrist area to determine the current state of the bone plates. A pediatric endocrinologist can then use that data, along with family demographic and blood test information to plug into a model that provides estimates of future growth. |
I only grew about an inch after I got my period at 11. Ended up at 5'1. |
I think your DD sounds perfect. Why would you want her taller? |
No. I work at an elementary school and most of the girls in 5th and 6th grade are near my height. I'm 5'4". A few are short and a few are tall, but most of them are around the same height, which is close to my height. |
Did she grow any taller? |
I was 5'0" when I started by period at age 10. My adult height is 5'7". My parents before shrinking were 5'4" and 5' 11". |
I grew about 2”. |
Her first period wasn’t until she was 16 (and she was not underweight or undeveloped), so .5 inches |
I grew no more than 2" (maybe only 1"). Since I started at age 9, I'm now on the petite size (5'4) whereas for my early childhood I was tall. |
My DD got her period at 11.5. It’s been 2 years and she has grown a total of 1 inch. |
Noooooo! This is what I'm afraid of, My DD just got it at almost 12 yo, and is 5'2". She has always been on the taller side of her class.....but so was I and I'm 5'3" but got my period at age 10. Hoping fpr at least 2 more inches! |
My daughter hasn’t gotten hers yet but I was only 4’ 9” when I got mine at 12.5 and I grew to 5’ 5”. |
My dd was 5’2” when she got hers at 10 1/2, now she’s a 5’7” college student. She weirdly shot up right after the first period — was 5’5.5 by the time she had her 11th birthday! Then slowly put on another inch and a half fully grown at around 14. |
