As far as I am concerned there should be NO estate taxes with the excepting being the amount that might have been tax deferred...for instance IRA's or 401K's. Taxing the estate of a dead person is ridiculous. Doesn't matter how much money they leave. If you have taxed them throughout their lifetime then let that be enough. |
Yep . Americans should not be discriminated against for who or what they love. Stop standing in the way of people being treated equally . |
Then the tax laws discriminate. They need to be changed. |
So can family trusts, should we ban those? |
I guess that could work. We would definitely need more appropriate marginal tax brackets that would only apply to polygamous families, or else they would end up paying way more taxes than they are supposed to assuming all spouses work full-time. |
They do discriminate and always have. The tax law treats single & married people differently. |
It's interesting how liberals are comfortable advocating for non traditional marriage like gay marriage, despite its associations with homosexual buggery/sodomy, yet reject polygamy out of hand because they associate it with conservative strain of the LDS church. |
Agree, I have been saying this for years. I have heard folks say that the FLDS are in to marrying young girls (part true), but what about when gay men were in the habit of picking up high school students? I am not describing a pedophile in either case, but just a culture of sex with young people. Wrong in any setting. But the liberals think that women in these cases would be exploited. Look any woman, whether she be a stripper, or a K street law partner with a stay at home husband could be considered exploited. These women in plural marriages make a choice. They probably are used to the large family networks and the culture. They might be deeply religious. Or they might choose plural marriage to no marriage; something that many women in our culture have to settle for. I have always said, liberals think they know everything and conservatives are too inflexible. |
