Principal Announcements

And does the MJPatterson Fellowship churn out really good principals? I think it seems like a great program-a way to prepare their own for the uniqueness of the job that is school leadership in DCPS. But do the graduates generally lead and/or have a better skill set than a principal who is not a Fellow?

It's a new program so I guess only time will tell. Hoping they produce good principals since my school is getting one in the fall.

Good for Dunbar, not so much for Kelly Miller...

I believe Kelly Miller's new principal is from McKinley Tech. She's currently an assistant principal.

Truancy down to 1%????!!!!

The guy's a miracle worker!

Then again, middle schoolers are still quite young and fit a bit more easily under their parents thumbs. I don't see him getting those results at a HS in DC.

And suspensions being down is a bunch of hooey as a DC stat. It doesn't mean behavior has improved-just that they're not suspending kids for 'suspendable' offenses. We all know how the manipulate numbers game is played.

None of the above is a slam against the new principal-just my observations. Congrats to Mr. Z!

With all his baggage. He interviewed for other dual-language schools and was turned down.

Is the bancroft rumor true about the old sacred heart principal? I heard they selected a new principal but haven't heard who it is

Is Sacred Heart a dual language school?

He's the current AP at Bancroft.

PP here, I'm guessing he was the last resort. There really aren't any qualified dual-language candidates.

He wasn't impressive during the panel I sat on. He's neither fluent or bi-literate.
