This is how the bigotry works. Christians who do bad things are not really Christians. Muslims who do bad things are labeled "devout".

And, are these Christians murdering people in the name of God? Are they going to church every Sunday? Are their ministers encouraging this activity?

All of those things are happening in the Central African Republic. But, the killing has been excused by posters here.

Jeff, I admit I'm ignorant. I don't even know where the Central African Republic is, although I assume it's somehow close to the middle of Africa.

But we weren't talking about them, we were talking about homicides in DC, probably by Christians, but not because of Christianity.

hmm, how many of the homicides in DC by christians were comitted with the murderer shouting, God is Great, or Praise Jesus or any Christian quote. Not a single one, because if they had, it would have been in the papers. The comparisons are meaningless attempts are moral equivalence. Liberal PC. Allahu Akbar is synonymous with Islam terrorism.

There is a difference between

murders that are committed by Christians for whatever reason but not because of some religious belief (please clarify if DC murders are due to christian beliefs!!!!)

vs

murders that are committed by Muslims because of, and inspired by Islamic religious beliefs.

Have women be the leaders in the religion and suppress the men with threats of violence and death if disobedient.

Fox news has posted news about an Isis video of a small child executing 2 Russian 'spies'.

I simply feel that the ummah has SOME responsibility over all that is happening with militant jihadists. Just as the ummah is obliged to do GOOD -- i.e. charity and almsgiving -- to gain favor with Allah, they are similarly obliged to help stop the BAD behaviors that evoke Allah's anger and wrath.

The Muslim pope should make a rule that depiction of Mohammed is ok. He should also condemn the killings and march with leaders. I want je suis Charlie shirts on all Muslims in defiance of these wackos.

I dont know that he should. I dont mind if practitioners of different faiths proscribe pork. They just shouldn't forbid me to eat pork. The Muslim.pope should tell Muslim.believers to stop freaking out over the different ways of non Muslims.

And WHO exactly would that be?

My goodness, some of you are so ignorant!

He's saying that they don't have the power to stop terrorists as long as the west gives radicals a cause to rally around.

AKA Blame the victim.

Interesting....because many Muslims would say that they are victims.

Last year, there was a drone strike on a wedding. MORE than 12 people died and it was discovered that they were all innocents - faulty intelligence or something like that. Very lukewarm mea culpa and no Western "rallying" for those killed. I don't condone violence but even I understand why certain Muslims dislike the West.

I'm a conservative, but I hate the drones.

Reading some of these posts is actually better than SNL, you can not be serious, but thank you for the laughs!

What's it like being Muslim? Well, it's hard to find a decent halal pizza place and occasionally there is a hashtag calling for your genocide...

Ah yes. Except the killers in Paris weren't killing to avenge those deaths (let's face it--they could have cared less) but because they felt dissed by a cartoon. And they killed two Muslims in the process.
You don't get much by way of protest from Muslims when it's Muslims who are killing each other. On the other hand, their leadership gets the losers among them all worked up about the Big Bad West to distract them while it lines its pockets and suddenly they're chomping at the bit to kill. Useful idiots.

Thought these excerpts from Memri were relevant here.

http://www.memri.org/report/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/8375.htm

From Aziz Al Hajj:

"We must purge our curricula of all praise for tyrants and arch-murderers like Khalid Ibn Al-Walid,[4] and rediscover the enlightened Arab and Islamic heritage, as exemplified by the Mu'tazila,[5] Ibn Rushd[6] and Al-Ma'arri.[7] [We must also] supervise the traditional schools that teach reading and writing, as well as the sermons of the imams in the mosques and the Husseiniyyas [Shi'ite religious centers].

From Abd Al Rahman Al Rashed:

"The story of extremism begins in Muslim societies, and it is with their support and silence that extremism has grown into terrorism that is harming people across the world. It is of no value that the French people, who are the victims here, take to the streets to condemn the recent crimes. What is required here is for Muslim communities to disown the Paris crime and Islamic extremism in general."

From Mamoun Fandy:

"The West and the non-Muslims will never believe we are truly against terror unless an immense and angry mass of people come out [against it], like the [crowds] that demonstrated on the day the offensive [Muhammad] cartoons [were published].

"True, Islam has nothing to do with terror, but there is a visible link between terror and the culture prevailing among Muslims today, especially among the youth – and nobody disputes this. The first step towards resolving the crisis of violence and extremism is to recognize that we have a problem... It is not enough to condemn [violence] and feel sad for a little while. What the Muslims need is to 'upgrade their software,' which is programmed mainly by our schools, television and mosques – especially small mosques that trade in what is forbidden to trade in [i.e., the religion]... There is no choice but to dismantle this system and rebuild it in a way that is compatible with human culture and values."[9]

"But in so many Muslim communities now, saving face trumps critical thinking and truth-telling. This is why reform from within Islam is so difficult. In my experience, if you try to hold the community accountable, you’re more likely to be bullied and intimidated than taken seriously. "

Great article. Reform is desperately needed -- what if Muslims called for reform within the OIC?

It's so much easier to be distracted by such nonsense (interpreting ancient texts to find a purpose in life) than it is to actually just live and be.
