What kind of breakfast person are you

Anonymous
So last night I was packing up the leftovers from dinner (chicken fajitas), DH commented on how I could have them for lunch. I said that they'd probably end up being breakfast, and he was mortified.
When I started to think about it, DH is a very traditional breakfast person- muffin, donut, bacon and eggs with pancakes, etc. almost always something sweet included.

I'm an anything goes for breakfast person. If there's leftovers in the fridge, I'm good. The thought of something sticky and sweet at breakfast actually grosses me out a bit. I'd rather eat noodles or something spicy, than a muffin.

This got me thinking because I've been looking at going paleo, and I suppose this won't bother me. But DH would die if breakfast was not as it "should be".

What kind of breakfast person are you? Traditional or anything goes?

Traditional. But only because I'm not very hungry in the morning and starches (muffins, oatmeal, etc) are easy to choke down so I don't die of hunger on my commute (when I do feel hungry).

But when I'm jetlagged from traveling in Asia (which I do frequently) I feel very hungry in the mornings and then I can eat anything -- which is good since breakfast in many Asian countries is noodles, fish, soup, etc.

Ugh - breakfast is really difficult for me because I don't like traditional breakfast food either (esp. sweets). Also trying to limit the carbs. I graze leftovers sometimes. Other times I'll throw together plain yogurt, nuts and berries. It would be a whole lot easier if I could just eat a bagel, but I can't really control myself with bread.... once I start, I just snowball and gain 10 pounds. Am just recently coming off a carb bender and am horrified at how puffy I've gotten.

I'm not a big breakfast person. Generally just a piece of toast.

Pretty traditional.

If I eat anything for breakfast, it needs to be protein-heavy. If I just eat carbs, I'll be starving in two hours - I'm actually better off not eating anything. Eggs (my current favorite is an egg and cheese sandwich on a toasted whole-grain bagel), Greek yogurt with fruit and honey, bacon or sausage. I love pancakes and waffles, but generally only have them on weekends and paired with a protein.

I enjoy anything.

I love breakfast foods, but almost never eat them for a variety of practical reasons. My go-to is a cup of cottage cheese.

Non-traditional. I don't like sweet things for breakfast -- pancakes, waffles, muffins -- ick. I would always rather have something savory. My go-to breakfast right now is avocado on toast with Tabasco.

I ear cottage cheese & fruit every morning, but one of my kids hates all of the usual breakfast suspects. He usually eats cherry tomatoes & super sharp cheddar cheese or peanut butter & apple. This morning he had leftover eggplant parmesan. I'm happy as long as he eats something.

Anything goes! Tuesday I had leftover shrimp, asparagus and tomato for breakfast, although workdays are usually Greek yogurt, berries and a bit of granola. Weekends are usually eggs. Time and ingredients permitting, I'll make an omelet with lots of veggies and cheese, possibly a side of sausage or bacon. If I have an omelet for breakfast, I will often skip lunch.

I love bagels, muffins, pancakes, waffles, french toast, but they don't love me. Simple carbs make me hungrier and puff me up. Gluten seems to give me a horribly itchy rash. So it is simpler to stick with produce and protein (including dairy) for breakfast.

FWIW, I grew up on Cheerios, milk and juice for breakfast. Oatmeal if it was really a chilly morning.

I am an equal opportunity breakfaster.
I love traditional savory breakfast things - eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, quiches, etc. I like breakfast breads, but try to limit as I have zero control and would be starving two hours later anyway.
Some of my favorite breakfasts are cold pizza and cold leftover Chinese food, but those might be college hangovers
Some of my favorite easy dinners are... breakfasts. Scrambled eggs, toad in the hole, etc.
I just like food, really.

I typically skip breakfast and make lunch my first meal of the day.

I grew up eating eggs, bacon, biscuits, etc. I rarely eat breakfast. If I do it is oatmeal from Starbucks that's only because I have a latte everyday. I just can't manage eating early in the mornings. The first thing I had today was soup and salad from Corner Bakery.
