ahhah . Hope you're staying safe, away from her/him or else you'd lose your mind quickly.

Too funny. I gave up just today upon realizing she really did have an agenda and no interest in learning anybody's view but her own.

This topic is rather interesting. Sometimes my son used to ask this very question when he was young. Why does God allow bad things to happen.

I remember a woman who had a great life, and then in her early 50's, suddenly developed a very disfiguring skin disorder. She said for a long time she kept asking God, "Why me, God? Why me?" One day she thought, "Well, why NOT me?" It finally occurred to her that to expect all good things should come her way in life was incredibly selfish and arrogant. She realized that God must have a plan and it was important she trust in that plan.

That's an inspirational story, wow! I hope she gets cured. It is an interesting question I think, even to adults and people of faith. There have been many times in my life where I've asked "why me?" but then I look @ all the other blessings I was granted and then realize that they all fit in the big picture. He knows what I know not, and sure enough, it all works out in the end and I always think back and smile at His wisdom. But yeh, about that other one, yup she has an agenda...

That "God's Will" is total bs, sorry. God willed a pestilence. God created a destruction, knowing the emotional turmoil, anxiety, and grief that would spread all over his beautiful kingdom. His children, his image. He pointed his finger and put a dirty little viron into a bat, in an African cave, and stepped away, maybe coming back to save a few special believers. Yay, give the glory. What kinds of gods would do this. You who believe God's Will worship this.

That's a simpleton story, bro.

Yet with a gruesome twist: Why shouldn't I get Ebola? Why NOT me?

The question really isn't why someone gets Ebola or some other disease/illness but why did God create those diseases/illnesses? Who gets them is a totally different topic, why they even exist is the more interesting God's will question.

Why do you even exist? Why do you have more rights to exist than ebola? Perhaps your very existence has caused someone somewhere more trouble than ebola ever could. So why do you get a pass? That should be an interesting question too.......

As a Catholic Christian who has a strong faith, I am always very interested in topics like this. I too feel that it is all part of God's larger plan, but I completely understand why others would question why these bad things would happen. And I think the questioning is healthy.

As someone who leans Deist, I'm so glad I don't have to ponder stuff like this. It must be exhausting to have to wade through all the real-time Ebola BS, but also your brain has to process it through a filter of dogma. What a muddle!

If this way of thinking does not do anything for you, hopefully you'll find another way to cope with Ebola if you get it. If not, then the saying "Sh#% happens" would have to suffice for you.

We are to imitate Christ. His life on earth was full of trials, so we should see trials as an opportunity to imitate Christ.

The topic of Satan is not popular in our secular society, but the truth is, he is alive and well. He loves to throw things like ebola at us which harm us in body and more importantly in soul.

Here you go again with individualizing it. It's not why do I exist but why did God create Adam versus why did God create the Ebola virus.

Get away from individualizing.

Are you saying Satan has the power to create same as God? Did Satan create the Ebola virus?

Or did God create the Ebola virus for some unknown good reason and Satan is simply using it in a devious way?

No. There is no Satan. There is only God. And God is doing exactly what God does. We grow physically and spiritually through difficulty. There is no way to become more compassionate without going through hardship. There is no way to learn love without experiencing hatred. There can be no healing without injury. Our Universe is one of balance. As humans, our work is to become more like our God, whatever name you give Him. In doing so, we create a more compassionate world.

God is just being God. He can provide love, comfort, and peace. But He cannot prevent suffering in this world. If He could, He would.

Then why did God create the Ebola Virus? To love and comfort us?
