their holy books may say that, but many people who consider themselves members of those faiths don't believe that.

Do you speak on their behalf? If you are atheist, why not let them speak for themselves.

They have spoken for themselves, many times, here and in real life.

So then why are you speaking here for them if they are fully able to speak for themselves?

I think its safe to assume on a religious forum that if a poster is posting a comment, it is his or her opinion only.

And by now it should be safe to assume there are all kinds of variations in different belief systems. It does not detract from everyone's ultimate goal, which is to be united with God after life.

I've seen many comments posted as if they are absolute truth -- not surprising, because that's what some religions teach. Their evidence is their interpretation of what their holy book says.

Here's the deal: you are beating a dead horse. There are differences of opinion but they are not significant enough to warrant prefacing every post with " This is my personal view only".

Each post should be taken as the viewpoint of the poster only. Pages and pages do not need to be devoted to clarifying this obvious point.

It' not so obvious in a discussion about religion, where there are some iron-clad beliefs that make the difference between eternal fiery damnation or eternal bliss in the glow of a loving god.

If all the bad things that happen to us are God's tests why does God stop testing us in heaven? Seems to me he would treat us the same no matter where we were. Or is he a spiteful God and only tests those who deserve it?

My understanding is that heaven is the reward for people who passed God's test on Earth. He may seem spiteful when his creation is on earth, but once you've dies and passed the the test, it's all good.

Unless of course your Lucifer. Then even in heaven God can be spiteful.

Who relies on information from DCUM to determine if they will go to Heaven or Hell. If anyone relies that much on an anonymous blog for that, they have bigger problems.

And how likely do you think posters will be to preface all their posts with a disclaimer? Its not realistic or practical.

Agreed, but it sure would be nice if people didn't proclaim biblical truths as if they were God himself - and everyone believed in him exactly as the poster did.

e.g. "I believe that sinners go to hell" or "According to my religion, all sinners go to hell" instead of "All sinners go to hell!"

But what happens if the correct test answer was "Mormon" all along? Do you still pass?

I think Mormons believe that non-mormons can go to heaven, just not to the top level of heaven with the Mormons, so even if the answer is "Mormon" you can still get into a lower level of heaven.

But if the right answer is Baptist and you're a Catholic (or vice versa), then you're in trouble.

No, then you go to hell and party likes it's 1999 rather than go to heaven and live like Mormons.
