You?? The Equality Poster again???? Muslim women and Men are Equal, let me repeat again, we are Equal. I've said it again more than twice, maybe we need 20 more pages to get you to understand what Equality means . While men and women have equal rights in Islam, the specific rights and responsibilities granted to them are not identical, nobody ever said they were. Men and women have complementary rights and responsibilities. And don't you dare telling me you have the monopoly on what equality is ![]() ![]() |
OMG that's the funniest thing I've read all day. Provide the links to that publication so that we can see your penmanship. From what I know about Muslim discourse in the U.S., most of these publications are run by volunteers. Well-known scholars in the U.S. and Canada get hundreds of inquiries a day. That you were one of them means nothing. The most hysterical part is the notion that "Islamic relations" (whatever that means) with non-Muslims need professional help from international firms, no less. |
Provide proof of Muslim women voting 1400 years ago. Actually, provide proof of anybody Muslim voting 1400 years ago. The majority of Muslim rulers throughout history have not been selected by voting, whether by males or females. You need a dictionary to tell you what "equal" means. It doesn't mean what you think it does. |
You know, it's funny to watch you use exclamation marks, emoticons and think that this qualifies as argument. |
You say in one breath, there is no such thing as a Muslim Woman ( thank you for letting me know I don't exist, i had no idea ![]() I guess you are the one who speaks for Muslim women then since she can't and she has no idea of the diversity of opinions and situations that exist for women in Muslim-majority countries, according to you , Wowzeeee! Next time i hear about a Muslim woman in distress, i will make sure to call you at 1-800-anonymous so you can save her life since you have met all these women women who were so angered and abused and needed help. Do you work at a Muslim Women Abuse Anonymous hotline? Geez! You are dense! The other muslim poster and I must live under a rock since we were not aware of all these Islamic abuses done to Muslim women, what a wake up call!!!!!! |

Guessing this means dawwah/conversion efforts. If her handiwork here is any indication, conversion rates will plummet after she starts dawwah full-time. |
+1. If I say red is blue, does that make it so? Can I call you Colorblindphobic if you don't agree with me? |
Muslima, you just crack me up!! You go, girl. |
Once more, with feeling. You certainly IMPLIED that rights and responsibilities were equal, when you used the word "equal" for a non-Muslim audience you KNEW VERY WELL would interpret the word differently from a Muslim audience. That's no different from a deliberate deception on your part. You have only yourself to blame, if it took 20+ pages on women in Islam, across several threads, to get you to the point where you finally said, "what I actually mean by 'equal' is..." |
I actually don't know if you exist, you're just a name on a page. You're trivializing my message. There is no such thing as a generic Muslim woman. There are millions of Muslim women and it's incredibly arrogant of your little buddy to claim she understands what they all think and believe. Is it your claim that that scenarios I outlined are impossible, or in fact illegal under Shariah? |

You mean, like Brad Pitt? Not quite. Now you're really showing your ignorance. Tell me, which scholar gets " hundreds" of inquiries a day? Hahaha |
I'll work on getting those ballots from 1400 yrs ago as evidence for ya, islamophobe. I'll get right on it. Brilliant comeback though. |
Different PP here. I think she made the point quite effectively. You obviously have no good answer. |
You don't need to get ballots. Just tell us what Muslim ruler over the last 1400 years was elected by direct population vote, with credible sources. You can also add your estimates on what percentage of rulers in Muslim-majority countries over the last 1400 years has been elected by direct vote. |
It is quite true that Islam provided women *some* rights (like property ownership) that the West did not until recently. Actually, not all of the West, since independently wealthy women existed in the West for quite some time. It varied greatly by country: for instance, Spain and Aquitania protected female property rights since as early as the 12th century. It is not true that the right to vote is Quranically prescribed for anyone, male or female. It is also true that when women in the West fought for equal rights, they obtained rights far in excess of what Islam grants women. Islam was a step in the right direction for its time. But the world has moved on beyond that benchmark. We can appreciate it for what it did for its time, but it is incorrect to say nothing better exists. |
